TODAYS MILEAGE – 83 miles / 134 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 10,011 miles / 16,111 kilometres

I'm 5 days into my holiday and today would be the first day in which I've done anything remotely linked to being "touristy" - can you tell I really couldn't give two knobs of goat shit about that??? Be Happy

Just up the road from where I'm staying at Mike & Bek's, I pulled into American Eagle Harley-Davidson to see if I can track down a better solution for the mounting of the audio amplifiers on my 2017 CVO Streetglide. In Harley's idiotic manufacturing process, they use double-sided tape to try and securely attach a 2 kilogram (4 pound) amp to the inside of the fibreglass panniers - talk about Dumb As Dog Shit!!!

After a multicultural breakfast start to the day at Modern Market Eatery, where an Aussie, in Texas, having a $5 Colorado "breakfast" Burrito served by Guatemalans, I tracked down replacement a pair of Vasque hiking shoes at REI, in the somewhat well-to-do (aka - wank factor) suburb of Southlake.

It took me just on ½ an hour to get over to the Gas Monkey Garage to take a look at where it "all" started and still continues for Richard Rawlings. The place was made famous due to the Discovery Channel TV show - Fast N' Loud, which chronicles Richard and his teams efforts in buying, selling/flipping and/or customizing cars, while having both that process and their antics filmed.

I was surprised that the first thing that grabs your attention upon arrival - the pungent aroma that smashes your senses. I can only describe the experience to that of overflowing ablutions, at a Summer music festival, that's a week overdue for septic pumping.

Aside from looking through the razor wire topped cyclone fencing at the film crew preparing to shoot the sale of a 60’s Cadillac, the gift shop is about as close as you get to the action – kinda disappointing. The show portrays Richard as being all about the cash, so with branded merchandise like truckers caps that'll have you reaching for your plastic at $29.95 a pop - I wouldn’t be in any hurry to “Get You Some of That” ..... which he is fond of saying, while I'm a bit partial to saying "farq that" myself ... with prices like that.

Personally I think the show has gone off the boil and lost some of what it had going for it when lead designer and fabricator Aaron Kaufman and custom painter KC Mathieu left the show.

Again I decided to beat the afternoon traffic home and came across a fender bender in the fast lane of opposite traveling traffic. This saw that all 5 lanes on that side grind to a halt and turned southbound I-35 into a car park for about 4 miles. There's another reason right there as to why I prefer not to live in a big city.

After sorting out a home cooked meal of Chicken Cacciatore accompanied with garlic bread, I got to packing all my gear up to fly up to Boise, Idaho early in the morning.
