TODAYS MILEAGE – 19 miles or 31 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 37,086 miles or 59,684 kilometres

Apart from the eye-catching architecture of the 47-floor, 856 foot (261 metre) tall "Grand Lisboa Hotel Casino", the building houses the "The Star of Stanley Ho", the worlds largest "Cushion Cut" diamond at 218.08 carats (46.3 grams/1.7 ounces) and internally flawless "D Colour".

The hotel/casino foyer also houses an impressive Woolly Mammoth ivory tusk carving depicting the Great Wall of China. The carving measures 93 x 90 x 21 inches (2360 x 2280 x 530 millimetres), took ten experienced craftsmen over a six year period to create and portrays the everyday life of the locals in scenes from the Shanhaiguan to Jiayuguan.

Whilst I am vehemently opposed to the illegal trade in ivory and this tusk is by no means from an illegal source, having said that, I could not help but be amazed by the intricate detail and craftsmanship in this carving - it was simply stunning.
