The "Yangtze River" passes between the northern Chijia Mountain and southern Baiyan Mountain and is called the Kuimen Gate - forming the "Qutang Gorge".
Qutang is the first of the three (the other two being Wu and Xiling) that make up the "Three Gorges Reservoir" system. It measures 5 miles (8 kilometres) in length and is the narrowest of the gorges at 500 feet (150 metres) wide.
