Fez's Royal Palace and gardens are strictly closed to the public, but even from the outside they're an impressive sight. We got up close to the Bab L'Makhzen gates (or Golden Gates as the locals call them) and it was one of those 'wow' moments, when you truly appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry that went into them.
