DAY 6a

SYDNEY (New South Wales, AUS) ~ Game 3: Chiba-Ken RUFC ~ Japan

Friday October 1st, 2010

As most of the Japanese teams we've ever played, all but one of the Chiba-Ken team had red or yellow shorts, so us black shorters settled in for a spirited game of touch.

By the second period of the match, we had all the ladies from both teams on the field and several legends were born. We had Sue "Wong Way" Moran, Portia "This Field Isn't Big Enough For Me" Peterkin , Lynn "John Eales" Adams – the lineout jumper and Yvonne "You Can't Touch This" who, in her debut match, got yellow carded and sent off for running too far and showing way too much athleticism.

As you can see by the photos from the match, to a person, everyone had huge smiles on their dials, which to me is exactly what the spirit of Golden Oldies is all about.

As this was the last day of competition, we were invited to dinner by our co-festival playing partners, the Southwest Wobblies and managed to hop into the White Russians at a pretty frenetic pace.
