El Salto ("The Jump" in Spanish) is located just on th outskirts of La Fortuna and is a river waterfall that is a favourite with the locals.
Kind of off the beaten track, a little tricky to climb in and out of but great fun to hang out with the locals. You can either float/swim around in or "go native" with the Tarzan rope swing in enjoying crystal clear waters - it was a blast.
