EMEISHAN (Sichuan, CHN) to CHENGDU (Sichuan, CHN)

TRIP MILEAGE – 34,768 miles or 55,954 kilometres
With an early start this morning, we headed over to our usual breakfast spot for a bite to eat, collected our respective laundry items, before piling into our van and headed over to the train station. In only about an hour or so on the train, we were in the city of "Chengdu".
Once we were squared away in the "Chengdu Flowers Family Hotel", our CEO (Chief Experience Officer) Lee undertook an orientation walk in which we headed over to the local shopping district and spent a couple of hours just wandering around.
Not sure how Rob and I lost the girls, might have been something to do with him and I sneaking off to the "Mug Bar and Restaurant" to blow the froth off a couple of coldies, rather than shopping for touristy shit.
After freshening up back in the hotel, we all met at a local restaurant around 7 o'clock to have a crack at the local regional dish - "Sichuan Hotpot", which in all honesty – was hard work. With 5 of us dropping various proteins & vegetables into a sizzling pot of the “devils brew”, you struggled to get the right amount of cooking on the items - if you actually were able to retrieve what you put in. Having tried the authentic dish, I'd have to say and am not a fan primarily due to just how much oil was in the broth.

Day 13 - Emei Shan to Chengdu
Travel by local train to Chengdu. Free exploration in this tea & spice loving city. Enjoy a local Hotpot dinner.
Settle in and scan the scenery for the 45 minute ride in the convenience of a private vehicle and then climb aboard, take your seat, and get around like the locals do for the hour train ride into Chengdu.
