The "Bell Tower" of Xi'an marks the geographical centre of the ancient capital, measures 118 feet (36 metres) in height, 116 feet (35.5 metres) in length & width and covers nearly ⅓ of an acre (1,377 m²).

The Bell Tower and was erected in 1384 during the "Ming Dynasty" by "Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang" as a way to dominate the surrounding countryside and to provide early warning of imminent attacks by rival rulers.
